BIG APPLE ACADEMY’S PANDEMIC COVID-19 RESPONSE

At the Big Apple Academy, the health and well-being of our students, teachers and extended community is our top priority. We understand the concern and uncertainty you may be experiencing surrounding the coronavirus (COVID-19) and are committed to being responsive to the needs of our students as the situation evolves. We strongly encourage you to use the BIG APPLE ACADEMY WEBSITE and its digital tools and other resources to access essential information.

OUR RESPONSE AT A GLANCE:

· By the NY State and NYC executive orders, all Big Apple Academy locations are closed until further notice.
· All employees considered essential in continuity of education were asked to work from homes.
· A distance learning platform was developed via Zoom to continue the educational process in core subject areas of English, Math, Science, and Social Studies, Computer Science. (GRADES Kindergarten- 8th)
· Attendance, punctuality and academic performance continues to be monitored.
· The E-Class platform was developed for the convenience of students and teachers. E-Class allows faculty and students to quickly transfer any files.
· Parents, students and teachers have 24-hour IT support as issues arise.
· Preparation for the Regents Exams scheduled for June 2020 continues.
· Telo-Screen Infrared Thermal Detection System will be installed at the main entrances to the school buildings. Thermal Detection Systems are non-intrusive systems that automatically scans the body temperature of anyone who enters and identifies those with fever.
· Whenever the order to re-open the school premises will arrive, all buildings will undergo deep cleaning and extensive disinfectant procedures
